Last weekend started out quite exciting. Hanifa and I went furniture shopping for our bedroom and in less than 2 hours had managed furnish our bedroom with a new bed, 2 new nightstands, a bench, 3 new lamps, 2 new chairs, a couch, a coffee table, a sofa table, a small table, a rug and accessories. It was truly the most fun I have ever had shopping for furniture in my whole life! Then, we watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympic games Friday night. Saturday started with the mandatory errands - that is until Hanifa's mom, Ida, volunteered to take all 3 kids from me so I could finish my errands in peace! 1:00pm and I was free---Ida and Abby (Hanifa's aunt) actually had the kids for the night and were going to return them the next day. Happy dance. Happy dance.
So I quickly ran to my car - yelling directions to the closest Del Taco (my kids are obsessed with macho tacos) as I left. First on my list? The Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain - you may know it as the resort that Britney and Kevin or Jennifer and Vince stay at when in the Phoenix area. My goal? Purchasing a Valentine's gift card for our good friend Kelly - who let it slip that she had only had 1 professional massage before - and Hanifa's in a gift giving mood right now.
2nd - a quick trip to Scottsdale Fashion Square. Normally I would dread this outing - but I was kid free and I wanted to look for new bedding for our bedroom! No luck on the bedding front, but I was able to buy Natalee's birthday present (2/27)!
I made it home just in time for my sister and her husband to come over and try to help set up a new stereo receiver. No luck - but it was fun hanging out - just adults! That evening the four of us and eight more friends made our way to Old Town Scottsdale for drinks and dinner at Cowboy Ciao. Yummmmyyyy.... I was soooo full, but it was good. (Mind you I have 1 week until the Honor Ball and eating should not be at the top of my list.) The night ended with a sit in the jacuzzi and what should have been a very romantic evening at home. But - guess what?! No kids and I fell asleep. Hard... I woke up at 10am the next morning. Let me say that again. 10am and no one was yelling, fighting or crying. It was serene. I could have slept some more, but I was meeting Her Royal Highness, Kimberly Kwan and her husband David at The Phoenician for an extravagant brunch. (We were also celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary.) After at least four plates of food and too many to count glasses of champagne - I waddled back to my car. (Less than 1 week until the Honor Ball.) Back home - the food induced coma took over and I awoke after 5pm. Guess what??
Going out to dinner for our anniversary!! This time we were joined by our closest friends, Mark and Natalee. We went to Elements at Sanctuary (see above) where they have the most wonderful canteloupe martinis. For some reason I thought I was hungry and ate a full meal - including dessert. One would hope this would keep me satisfied for a month. I'm not sure I could ever eat that much again! Now I have 3 days until the Honor Ball...I'm not so sure I'll be fitting into my dress - but maybe I could cover up with a big poncho.
And by the way - we you wondering what I got for my anniversary present? Hanifa tried to surprise me, which is now an incredibly sore subject, with this. (I just found this photo on the internet.) Isn't he a great husband?
